The second chapter of Talent Is Not Enough describes a solid way to job hunt. It informs the reader how to go about preparing for all parts of the job hunting processes. It is almost a tip and trick guide to job hunting. The chapter starts by asking the simple question, what kind of job are you looking for within the design field? It creates the explanation of why we start this journey toward a career.
The chapter goes through everything from portfolios to job hunting sights; form salaries to interviewing. It talks about transition and what to do once hired. All the second chapter is road sign in how to conduct and get a career.
There where two part that I really enjoyed in this read. One was the actual process of where to look for jobs, the other was the process to find a suited salary for your position. They both are good explanations of what you are do and why you it in this way. The process of job hunting is long and tedious process that can end badly if you do it wrong or don't take the steps to know you stuff.
The other was what how to arrive at the salary price. I agree with Asterisk's contention of what people forget about a salary. It is a bargain. You have to haggle with the vendors to get the right price, but in this case we're not talking about 25 Eiffel tower key chains or $5. We're talking about to make a good offer that will be accepted or countered, and it you don't know what you should know to back it up and you might end up under paid.
I think the reading was a very helpful tool. It shows what you think you know is not enough. You have make the effort to go further to see what is unknown to make good candidate for any endeavor.
